Garrett’s + Lou Malnati’s

So Doug just called me – I was on the other line catching up with my friend Stevie – and it was like four minutes until I heard the voicemail “beep” – weird.

Doug went on and on via voicemail about how he was in a Chicago mood, and got an email this past weekend from this website.    They were doing special packages delivered in Cub’s tins.  Guess what arrived today?  This did.

The best popcorn in Chicago + the best pizza in Chicago – packed and delivered coast to coast.  If you’ve ever been on the Miracle Mile in Downtown Chicago, Garrett’s Popcorn is the small place on Michigan Avenue that always has a line out the door.  Crazy.  I’m not sure I’ve ever been past that place when there were less than 10 people in line.

Lou Malnati’s – another story.  Most people revere about Gino’s, or moreover, Giordano’s.  Heaven forbid you mention sellout Uno’s.  Those pizza places are all horrible in comparison to Malnati’s.  I was first exposed to Lou’s when Brett and Robin moved to Naperville.  In fact, I’ll be in Chicago over the weekend, and I’m sure a Malnati’s run is in the works.

I just had one question for Doug when I called him back – Are you watching the Cub’s game and drinking a 312 Beer?  His answer was even better – No, he wasn’t watching the game, it was being DVR’d, but he was drinking a Goose Island Beer…   Cheers!

A Chicago Pie, A Chicago Popcorn, A Chicago Beer, and A Winning Chicago Cubs Baseball Team.  Perfect.

… Can’t wait for the 747 to land from Boston Friday night…
