Most of you know that I travel literally non-stop for “what I do” – and there are a lot of advantages as well as disadvantages to being on the road as often as I am.
Most of you also know that I speak often about the topics of Social Media, Relationship Building and Team Building. Well, this post is essentially about all three of those.
Several years ago, I noticed when I checked in via old-school Gowalla and now newer-school Foursquare to airports and airport clubs, that one name popped up as being in the same general location from time to time. It was “@mattnevans” on Twitter. When I eventually ended up adding Matt to Twitter, I was pretty impressed with this Twitter “bio”: World Traveler, IT Guy, Scotch Fanatic, Music Lover. Matt and I would naturally become friends! (See my post yesterday on relationships…)
Over the course of the next few years, Matt and I would randomly be in the same airport, then the same United Club. We became travel friends. Literally.
Two fun facts about Matt:
1. We have a bet for 2012 that we will “run into” one another 10 times this year randomly in airports. I think the total is up to 5 so far, and its only May. Matt, can you verifty this? It actually might be 6! (Matt verified it is REALLY six so far this year!)
2. Earlier this year, when I was on a trip to San Fran for some business, Matt was there also, and ended up joining me – 100% RANDOMLY (meaning, not planned) for a Sunday wine tasting in the Valley before my flight home.
SO, Matt was helpful in my major IT / Email conversion earlier this year, and helped me get through some snags. At that point, I asked Matt, whose real job is to travel the world as a Microsoft IT Consultant for Planet Technologies (www.go-planet.com), to write some guest columns on my blog related to Entrepreneurs and Small Business Owners and the pain of IT (Information Technology) – I’m pretty jazzed about the outcome, and you can look forward to reading them next week – Tuesday through Friday – with some useful tips for small business and IT. This topic comes up ALL the time for me in my consulting and coaching business, so this could be some seriously relevant information.
Also, I’ve asked Matt to help me help you by hosting a FREE webinarwhich will be sponsored by Matt’s company Planet Technologies (www.go-planet.com). It would be LIVE and Matt can answer your IT questions that you would submit in advance. Let’s hope he says yes. (THIS JUST IN: HE SAID YES!) IF you want to be on the list for the FREE webinar with Matt and I, please sign up HERE for updates to my website, and you’ll receive not only the survey on questions you have for IT, but ALSO the invite for the webinar. NOTE: We NEVER spam anyone, period!
Here’s to an incredible Memorial Day weekend for you, your business, your friends and family.
Cheers!
